Five families in Navai, Seaqaqa are facing ongoing water shortages, with residents calling on the government to repair a borehole that has been out of service for the past three years.
Sugarcane farmer Mohammed Rizwan says the community has repeatedly raised the issue with the advisory councillor and the District Officer, but the borehole has yet to be fixed.
He says families rely on well water for drinking, but during dry periods there is not enough water to meet their needs.
Rizwan says students are also affected, as they often have to bathe in the river after school due to the lack of water at home.
He adds that water trucks only arrive about two days after residents contact the Water Authority, making the situation even more difficult.
Rizwan says access to clean water is a basic necessity and is urging authorities to restore the community's borehole as soon as possible.
