People can now get easy access to Immigration services as the Nakasi office and the Rakiraki office are expected to become operational next month.
This was confirmed by the Minister for Immigration Viliame Naupoto while responding to MP Taito Rokomatu on bringing immigration services closer to the people of Wainibuka in Tailevu and nearby areas.
He says the Nakasi office will open early next month while the Rakiraki office will open at the end of next month.
Naupoto says the Nakasi office has completed its internal fit-out and was officially handed over to the Ministry on 14th August, while the Rakiraki office is in the final stages of preparation.
Naupoto says both offices were initially expected to open by the end of this month; however, delays related to infrastructure, procurement and other operational requirements have pushed the timeline to September.
He says the Ministry’s next step is to establish an office in Sigatoka to provide easier access for people from Navosa and surrounding areas.
Naupoto adds they will also be expanding the services to Rotuma.

Highlighting the demand for passport and citizenship services, Naupoto says there are currently 413,827 valid passport holders in Fiji.
He says applications for citizenship, particularly for children of Fijian citizens living overseas, can now be lodged and approved online through the Immigration Online Portal.

He says this move is part of the Government’s objective to bring services closer to the people and reduce the need for citizens to travel long distances to access immigration services.
