Fuel supply remains stable

Fuel supply remains stable
The fuel supply outlook for Fiji remains stable, with current stock levels and incoming shipments expected to maintain normal operations through May and June.

This has been confirmed by the Fiji Government in a statement, which says that as of Monday, May 18th, there are 49.7 million litres of fuel available on land, with an additional 58.12 million litres expected to arrive before the end of this month.

This will bring total available stock for the month to 108 million litres.

They say based on projected fuel consumption of 33 million litres over the remaining 13 days of May, the forecasted balance at the end of the month is expected to remain at 75 million litres, representing 55 percent of Fiji’s total fuel storage capacity.

Forecasts for June also remain within normal operating levels.

Fiji is expected to begin June with 75 million litres of fuel on land, alongside confirmed shipments of 48 million litres and a further 11 million litre pending confirmation.

This would bring the total available stock to 123.4 million litres.

With estimated monthly consumption projected at 75.6 million litres, the anticipated balance at the end of June is forecast at 47.7 million litres, equivalent to 35 percent of total fuel storage capacity.

If the pending 11 million litres shipment is confirmed, the projected balance will increase to 58.9 million litres, or 43 percent of total capacity.

Authorities will continue to maintain Phase 1: Normal Status, while encouraging the public to continue fuel conservation measures.

The government says engagements with fuel suppliers are ongoing to confirm pending June shipments, while daily monitoring and weekly reporting to relevant authorities, including the National Security Council and NDMO Fuel Cluster, will continue.

They are reminding people that while fuel supply remains available and stable, matters relating to fuel pricing remain under the jurisdiction of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission.
