Sugar cane farmers will receive a delivery cane price of $42 per tonne this season after the Fiji Sugar Corporation announced a forecast cane price of $57.40 per tonne for the 2026 season.
In a statement, FSC says the first payment for 2026 season cane deliveries will be $34.44 per tonne, which represents 60 percent of the forecast cane price as provided under the Sugar Industry Tribunal Master Award.
They say farmers will then receive a top-up payment of $7.56 per tonne, increasing the delivery cane price to $42 per tonne.
FSC says the forecast price of $57.40 per tonne has been determined in accordance with the provisions of the Sugar Industry Tribunal Master Award and after informing the Tribunal of the estimates on which the forecast is based.
