Extra Bula FC have pulled off a stunning 2-1 upset over table leaders Auckland FC in a dramatic Round 5 encounter at 4R Stadium, Govind Park in Ba, boosting their chances of reaching the semi-finals.
Auckland FC dominated the early stages, applying relentless pressure as they searched for an opening goal, but Bula FC’s defense held firm.
The breakthrough came in the 14th minute with Player of the Match Sterling Vasconcellos scoring a goal to give the home team the lead.
The side extended their advantage in the 35th minute through captain Roy Krishna, sending the crowd into celebration.
Auckland FC responded in the 50th minute, with Emiliano Tade finding the back of the net to keep the contest alive.
Bula FC went into halftime leading 2-1.
The match ended in high drama during four minutes of stoppage time of the second half as tempers flared following a heavy challenge on Yuta Konagaya, who was later taken off with a concussion.

The win sees Bula FC climb to third place on the standings with 21 points, and they need to maintain the position to ensure a direct qualification to the quarter finals.
Auckland FC remains on top with 29 points, followed by South Melbourne on 22 points, while South Island drops to fourth with 20 points.
With two crucial matches remaining, Auckland FC facing South Island and South Melbourne taking on Tahiti on Tuesday, the race for the final stages of the tournament is heating up.
The league will then enter phase two as it splits into a Leaders and a Challengers Group.
Each team will play their respective group opponents once more, with the top three from the Leaders group advancing to the semi-finals.
The fourth placed team in the Leaders group will play the team finishing first in the Challengers group, in a playoff to determine the remaining semi-final place.

The two semi-final winners will meet in the final, to crown the inaugural OFC Pro League champions.
The OFC Pro League will also determine who represents Oceania at the annual FIFA Intercontinental Cup™ and the quadrennial FIFA Club World Cup™.
