7s coach Philip Snyman is confident that his side can secure a podium finish at this weekend’s Perth 7s.
South Africa is in a tough pool alongside Singapore 7s champions Fiji, Spain and defending champions Argentina.
They are currently tied with France in the overall standings, each holding 46 points.
South Africa will take on Spain at 3.58 this afternoon, followed by their second match against Argentina at 7.14pm, before facing Fiji at 10.52 tonight.
The Cup semi finals are scheduled to begin at 4.57pm tomorrow, with the Cup final set for 9.04pm.
