The Fiji Under 15 Basketball team have presented their i-tatau to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House as they prepare for the upcoming FIBA U15 Oceania Cup that will be held in Canberra, Australia, from next Monday to Friday.

While receiving the i-tatau, President Ratu Wiliame reminded the team of their roles as Ambassadors of Fiji when competing at the tournament and said their participation is not only for basketball but for all sports in Fiji.

The President commended the team and acknowledged the challenge ahead of them, saying that he was very proud of them for representing Fiji at such a young age in basketball.

He says they are playing a sport that is currently dominating the world and he also notes that a few of Fiji's youth have made their way to the US and are playing there now.

Ratu Wiliame says now that they are going to Australia to compete in the Championships, he reminds them to remember all the training, support, advice, and instructions from their coaches, especially parents, who have been there for them as they prepare to leave Fiji for this opportunity.

The Head of State also encouraged the team to excel in their sporting careers while also focusing on their education as school students.

He adds that it is quite an achievement to represent Fiji at such a young age, and he knows that they will do well in Australia.
