$3.913 million allocated for hosting of international tournaments

The Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to invest in community-level infrastructure through the construction and upgrade of hard courts, sports grounds and multi-purpose sports facilities to meet the needs of the larger sporting populace.

The Ministry is allocated $23.4 million in the 2025-2026 National Budget.

It says the initiatives are aimed at broadening access to sports and physical activity while supporting high-performance pathways in preparation for international events, including the 2031 Pacific Games and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.

As the Ministry advances its development agenda, it says it will continue to work closely with its statutory partners, the Fiji National Sports Commission and the Fiji Sports Council to deliver a coordinated approach to sports infrastructure, athlete development and community engagement.

$185,870 has been allocated for Sports Scholarships; Hosting of International Tournaments has been allocated $3.913 million; Fiji National Sports Commission will get $1.07 million; Fiji Sports Council $670,000; Sports Grant for Persons with Disabilities will get $195,652); Boxing Commission of Fiji $48,913; Community Sports Association $195,652; National Anti-Doping Organisation $48,913; construction of Hard Courts is allocated $978,261; and Upgrade of Sports Grounds is $1.46 million.
