Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has refuted recent claims from one of the media outlet’s ‘close source’ that he has interfered with the decision to stop the Deans and Raluve competition scheduled to start this Saturday.

In a statement, Radrodro clarifies that the Deans and Raluve Rugby competition will proceed as scheduled.

Radrodro has labeled the information shared by the media as misinformation.

He says on May 5th, the Acting Permanent Secretary for Education had granted approval for the 2025 Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union (FSSRU) 7s Tournament, Deans and Raluve 2025 season.

He adds the media should always verify information before it is shared with the public.

Radrodro says that at no point in time he had given or issued any directive to the officials of FSSRU not to proceed with the games this weekend.

He says as Minister for Education, he remains committed to supporting these extra-curricular events while ensuring that all necessary medical and safety protocols are in place.

He is also encouraging everyone to focus on empowering our young athletes and fostering a positive sporting environment.

The Education Minister further states that the Ministry provides platforms for all young athletes the opportunity to showcase their talents and will continue to support them as this is the holistic education that we promote for our students.

Meanwhile, Fiji Rugby Union Acting CEO Koli Sewabu had confirmed to fijivillage News today that round 1 of the FSSRU Zone games scheduled for this weekend will go ahead.
