Mental stability is one challenge that Fijian boxer Sebastian “The Sniper” Singh will try to overcome before his upcoming IBO Asia Pacific Cruiserweight title fight against Tonga’s King Tonga Tongotongo at in the South Pacific Boxing Promotion event at the end of this month.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Singh says it is hard training without his dad, Gyan Singh, who is also a well-known boxing trainer.

He says he is not taking away anything from his current trainer and he feels there is a lot of motivation that comes from not training with his dad.

Singh says he just wants to see his father smile after the fight which would really mean the world to him.

He says he is working extremely hard and there is no reason why he should not win on the night.

He adds he means no disrespect to his opponent as he is not an easy task.

The event will have former multi-sport sensation Sonny Bill Williams, who has represented NZ in rugby union, rugby league and boxing, as the chief guest.

The main title bout will see Fiji’s Winston Hill taking on Lachlan O’Shea from Australia for the IBO Asia Pacific Super Welterweight title.

Singh’s brother, Ubayd Haider will fight China’s Runqi Zhou for the IBO Asia Pacific Featherweight title.

There will also be another international fight in the event that will see Jese Ravudi taking on Vanuatu’s Roy Ser.

Meanwhile, Siliveni Nawai and Jonathan Pedro Hill will fight for the Fijian Super Middleweight title.

In other fights on the night, Jnr Abhay Chand will take on Vitori Cabalevu in a 6x3 contest while in the 4x3 contest, Apisai Naciqa will fight Marika Kavika, Manoa Tuiyaro will take on Ezra Volavola, Amit Kumar will fight Mikaele Marisi and Amo Wati will fight Maureen Neumia in the only 4x2 female bout.

The South Pacific Boxing Promotion will be held on the 26th of this month at King Charles Park, Nadi.
