As an extension of the Fiji Airways partnership, the Melbourne Storms are looking to grow opportunity pathway in Fiji that include a new program that will send more children from Fiji to Australia.

This pathway will also support local clubs and schools playing rugby league and provide additional coaching and development support to schools and communities across Fiji.

Storm Chief Justin Rodski, prop Christian Welch and Football General Manager Frank Ponissi will be making the official partnership announcement at Fiji Airways Hangar in Nadi next Tuesday, where Fijian-born Storm prop Tui Kamikamica has been a big supporter of the partnership and will work closely with the Fijian community.

Rodski says this partnership is not only about connecting with Fiji Airlines and the wonderful people of Fiji but also providing an opportunity for Fiji Airways to connect with their members, fans, corporate and partners to bring them into the Fiji Airways family.

Through the agreement, there are also plans to stage a historic clash between two NRL sides in Fiji as early as next year as the game prepares to expand into another international frontier.

He says they know the people of Fiji love Rugby League and are looking forward to announcing several new initiatives both on the ground in Fiji and Melbourne over the coming months that will build on this exciting announcement and strengthen their connection with the Fijian community.

The Governments of Australia and Fiji are also backing a bid for Papua New Guinea to be granted an NRL license to potentially join the competition as its 18th team as soon as 2027.
