Newly elected FASANOC President Cathy Wong has emphasized the importance of improving relations with National Federations and fostering a collaborative environment to enhance Fiji’s sporting achievements on the global stage.

Wong stated this in her acceptance speech at the 2025 General Assembly expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to lead FASANOC and outlined her plans to move the organization forward.

This was after securing the majority of votes in the first round, defeating Rajesh Singh (FNRL) and Makarita Lenoa (Karate).

Wong’s first round victory reflects her strong support within the sporting community and her vision for the future of sports in Fiji.

Three Vice President positions were also contested, and Ajay Ballu (Archery), Inoke Niubalavu (Baseball), and Lucy Erasito (Swimming) were subsequently elected showcasing the depth of talent and leadership within FASANOC.

Petero Vatu was elected unopposed as Vice President of Finance.

Additionally, Prem Narayan was elected for a one-year term as an Independent Legal Representative, bringing her legal acumen to the organization.

The Assembly also appointed key roles to support the organization’s governance.

Dr. Robin Mitchell and Mr. Vidhya Lakhan were elected as Trustees, both being life members of FASANOC, Munro Leys as the Honorary Solicitor and KPMG as the Honorary Auditor, ensuring robust oversight, guidance and management.

Outgoing President, Makarita Lenoa thanked all members for their support during her tenure and extended her best wishes to Cathy Wong and the incoming Vice Presidents.

Her leadership and contributions were acknowledged with appreciation by the members present.

The FASANOC election process, follows the IOC’s election method, ensuring a transparent and fair selection of leaders who will guide FASANOC into a new era of growth and development.

The new leadership team is poised to build on the successes of the past and drive the organization towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games and beyond.
