Maroons captain Daly Cherry-Evans has refused to talk about State Of Origin retirement, but with the veteran playmaker turning 36 next February, there is a chance the decider tonight will be his last for the Queensland Maroons.

Cherry-Evans made his Origin debut back in 2013, selected again in 2014 before being seemingly banished until his 2018 Origin game three recall.

He was named Queensland captain ahead of the 2019 series and has remained a mainstay ever since, and will play his 18th consecutive match for his state tonight.

Cherry-Evans says there won’t be an announcement on when he will be retiring and people won’t know until the off-season.

He says he will not want any special treatment for his retirement and adds he has made it clear that he does not make his decisions during the year.

He adds he does his best thinking in the off-season, but while he is in the thick of it, he is just going to keep enjoying it.

Cherry-Evans says he loves this job and it is crazy that he even calls it a job and he loves everything that comes with it.

He says he is playing for reasons as he enjoys and loves the game and he loves playing for the Maroons.

He further says for as long as he is good enough to hold a spot in the team, it will be very hard to pass up in the future.

Tonight will be Cherry-Evans’ 25th appearance for the Maroons, but the pundits believe he shouldn’t be hanging up his representative boots just yet.

Cherry-Evans will lead his side out against the NSW Blues at 10.05pm in game 3 of Origin at Suncorp Stadium.
