26 athletes will represent Fiji in the paddling at the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau later this month.

Va’a Sports Federation Manager Makayla Halter says there were around 80 paddlers who put their names for trials, and 26 athletes were selected to travel to Palau.

The Va’a Sports Federation comes under the Fiji Outrigger, and there are a total of 350 paddlers in Fiji.

The trials was held on 5th April 2024 in preparation for the upcoming mini-games in Palau.

Halter says the 26 include 11 female and 11 male athletes, with 2 coaches and 2 managers.

Makayla says many of the athletes going to Palau are juniors.

Martha Samuela and Iris Rae Fisher are the two young juniors who are preparing to represent Fiji in the sport of Va’a at the upcoming Games in Palau.

Samuela is 18-years-old, while Fisher is 15.

The 2025 Pacific Mini Games will be from the 29th of this month to July 9th.
