Women in Rewa are calling for better access to markets, equipment to support their income-generating activities and business management training to help grow and expand their enterprises.
The concerns were raised by members of the Vunuku Village Women's Group during a talanoa session with the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran following the closing of the Mud Crab Fattening Training in Tavuya Village.
The women showcased their handmade mats, screen-printed products, jewellery, mud crabs and shrimps while discussing the challenges they face in accessing markets.

Responding to the issues raised, Kiran outlined the range of assistance available through the Ministry of Women and encouraged the group to explore new income-generating opportunities by making the most of Rewa's rich natural and cultural assets.
She highlighted the growing demand for authentic Fijian souvenirs, traditional Rewan cuisine, eco-tourism experiences and village-based tourism, saying these present exciting opportunities for women to generate sustainable incomes while preserving their culture and heritage.
Kiran says through continued collaboration with communities and partner agencies, the Ministry will support women's groups to strengthen their enterprises, access new economic opportunities and build sustainable livelihoods that benefit their families and contribute to the growth of rural communities.
Accompanied by Assistant Roko Tui Rewa Vereniki Vulibulu, Kiran visited the women's group after stopping at the Tavuya Village Kindergarten, where she met with early childhood education students and their teacher, acknowledging the important role early learning plays in giving children the best start in life.
