Commonwealth Games gold medallist Taniela Rainibogi received a warm welcome at Nadi International Airport upon his return to Fiji following his historic victory in the men’s 110kg weightlifting event.
Fiji Airports and Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Philip Hereniko, were on hand to welcome the champion home and celebrate his achievement on the international stage.
Rainibogi’s gold medal win is a proud moment for the country, highlighting his dedication and hard work.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports says although Fiji is a small nation, its athletes continue to prove that determination and excellence know no boundaries.
The Ministry adds that Fiji’s success is a powerful reminder that the country can compete with the world’s best and achieve greatness through perseverance, talent and unity.
They have also congratulated the Fiji Weightlifting Team for its outstanding performance.
Meanwhile, Fiji finished 20th at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with one gold and one bronze medal through boxer Jasmine Daunakamakama.
