Anton Segner has capped off a remarkable Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaign by claiming four major honours at the 2026 Blues Awards following an outstanding season for the Auckland franchise.
Segner headlined the awards night by securing the Better Blues Company Player of the Year and nib Players’ Player of the Year awards.
The 24-year-old also collected the MG Blues Forward of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year awards, underlining the influence he had throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, rising midfielder Xavi Taele received the CMC Markets Blues Back of the Year award after a breakout season that established him as one of the club’s most exciting attacking threats.
A product of the Blues development system, Taele impressed with his versatility, powerful ball carrying and composure under pressure during the season.
Promising young forward Torian Barnes was named HelloFresh Blues Rookie of the Year following an impressive debut Super Rugby campaign.
Barnes brought physicality and energy to the squad throughout the season and quickly emerged as one of the club’s brightest young prospects.
Emerging hooker Eli Oudenryn claimed the Lockton Team Toa Player of the Year award after an impressive year within the wider Blues environment.
The New Zealand Under-20 rugby union team representative and 2025 Super Rugby Under 20 Player of the Tournament was recognised for his growth, professionalism and commitment behind the scenes.
Off the field, Kim Malaki was honoured with the Barfoot & Thompson Mealamu Club Person of the Year award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the club.
