Yee out of Olympics after defeat

Team Fiji’s youngest athlete participating at the Rio Olympic Games 2016 lost her first match in the women’s table tennis singles competition early this morning.

Table tennis player, 15-year-old Sally Yee was defeated four sets to none by Nigeria’s Offiong Edem in the preliminary round.

She has failed to progress to Round 1 of the competition.

Yee is the first ever Fijian Olympic table tennis player.

She qualified for the Olympics last March after winning the Oceania championship in Bendigo, close to Melbourne.
