Bula FC suffered a narrow 1–0 loss to South Island United this afternoon in the OFC Pro League Leaders Round after South Island United scored a late goal in the dying moments of the match.
Both teams were locked at 0–0 at halftime.
The match became more challenging for Bula FC after Setareki Hughes was shown a red card in the 44th minute for foul play.
Bula FC made several attempts to score but were unable to convert their chances.
Bula FC coach Stéphane Auvray says that even though they were one player down, they still created chances.
Auvray says this is an opportunity for the team to learn and improve in the future.
Meanwhile, the Bula FC is scheduled to face the Auckland FC this Sunday at 2.30 pm.
The teams that finish in the top three of the Leaders Group will qualify for the semi-finals, while the fourth-placed team will play against the winner of the Challengers Group, where the bottom four teams have competed against each other.
The semi-finals will be held on 20th May at the GO Media Stadium, and the final will be played on 24th May at Eden Park.
The OFC Pro League will also determine who represents Oceania at the annual FIFA Intercontinental Cup™ and the quadrennial FIFA Club World Cup™.
