USA basketball team breaks Olympic scoring record

USA has broken the Olympic Record of most points scored in a single men's Olympic Basketball match after they beat Nigeria 156-73.

The previous record was held by Brazil with 138 points.

Also this morning American Swimming sensation Michael Phelps wrote yet another chapter in his amazing career with a 16th Olympic gold medal and his 20th in total.

Phelps could also win the 100metres Butterfly title tomorrow for the third time in succession after clocking the fastest time in the heats.

Meanwhile, our athletes who are yet to take part are, Danielle Alakija who will be competing in the Women's 400m at 9 tonight, then at 8pm Sunday, Glen Kable is shooting in the Men's Trap qualification.

And lastly Leslie Copeland takes part in the Men's Javelin next Thursday.

Looking at the medal tally, China is still leading the medal tally with 18 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze, USA is second with 18 gold, 9 silver, 10 bronze and the Republic of Korea is third with 7 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze.
