Vanua leaders urged to partner with tertiary institutions for better training

Kofera Trust Secretary Samuela Tuidraki is encouraging Vanua leaders to work closely with tertiary training institutes to ensure their villagers receive appropriate training.

While speaking at the first-ever Oceania Institute of Technology Micro qualification graduation in Namaka, Nadi, Tuidraki says that while we need doctors, lawyers, and teachers, there is also a need for entrepreneurs and tertiary pathway opportunities for those who do not enter vocational or degree-level studies.

He adds that not everyone can secure scholarships, and such provisions allow for alternative tertiary pathways and opportunities in entrepreneurship.

Tuidraki expresses his gratitude to the coalition government for the micro-qualification grant aimed at targeting unemployed youths, school dropouts, and unemployed adults.

He further stresses that global labour mobility is increasing, and while developing countries face the challenge of losing people to developed nations, Fiji still has a segment of the population that needs access to tertiary training to be upskilled and prepared to meet human resource demands.

Tuidraki urges the Coalition Government to continue with such policies so that Fiji can have enterprising and skilled citizens at every level of the workforce.
