It was supposed to be a trial but instead, the Queensland Reds received a wake-up call in their tight 17‑15 win over the Fiji Warriors last night.

The Reds scored the winning try in the 75th minute as they struggled against the Fiji Warriors.

It was Hamish Stewart who slotted a sideline conversion after winger Izaia Perese scored in the 75th minute.

The Reds dominated in the scrum which gave them the edge to get penalties from their strong scrum.

Discipline cost the Warriors the game plus two kicks which could have won them the game.

Tuwere Vugakoto and Ratunaisa Navuma scored try each for the Fiji Warriors while Enele Malele slotted through a conversion.

Local players stepped up against Super Rugby and test players and a lot of improvements were shown by the Drua and the Under 20 players.

This was the Reds final pre-season Super Rugby match.

In other preseason matches yesterday, the Highlanders defeated the Crusaders 42‑26, the Hurricanes scored four tries to beat the Blues 26‑14 while the Waratahs beat the Rebels 47-5.
