Nike signs LeBron James to a lifetime deal

Sportswear manufacturer Nike has signed the Cleveland NBA basketball star LeBron James to a lifetime deal.

It is believed to be the first lifetime deal in the company's 44‑year history.

Nike has made 13 versions of LeBron James' signature shoe, and annual sales in 2015 for his line are estimated to top US$600 million.

According to Forbes.com in June, James is the sixth highest‑earning athlete in the world with annual earnings of US$98 million while his net worth is estimated at US$450 million.
