Milika Tuivanuavou scoops US award

Fijian athlete, Milika Tuivanuavou has been juggling school work and training well.

This comes after she was named the 2011-2012 Capital One Academic All American Women's junior Track and Field athlete of the year.

Tuivanuavou attends Fresno Pacific university and she is the first student in the history of her school to win the award after being recognized for her achievement in her school work and athletics.

The former Yat Sen Secondary school student has a grade point average (GPA) of 3.68 in the study of human movement.

60,000 student athletes from close to 300 universities and colleges compete in 13 sports and 23 national championships.

The former national athlete was voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Tuivanuavou is recognized for her academic and athletic success and is on a scholarship with Eugene Vollmer at the Fresno State University in America. 

Athletics Fiji President Albert Miller said that Milika's achievements is going to be a challenge for other athletes.
