Marty McKenzie is looking to make the most of his opportunities this time around as he kicks off his second stint with the Chiefs this Friday.
He's played 23 Super Rugby games over six seasons for the Blues, Crusaders and Waikato‑based franchise but feels it's time to step up.
The 25‑year‑old has just returned from a concussion and made his first start of the season against the Sunwolves playing at fullback on Saturday.
The New Zealand Maori player, who started his career at first five‑eighth, has no worries about taking a back seat while his younger brother Damien calls the shots.
McKenzie is also expecting a stern examination when they face the Highlanders in Hamilton on Friday night.
The Chiefs will face the Highlanders at 6.35pm Friday while the Rebels take on the Hurricanes at 8.45pm.
On Saturday, the Blues face the Sharks at 6.35pm while the Brumbies meet the Waratahs at 8.45pm.
On Sunday, the Bulls take on the Stormers at 3.15am and the Crusaders will meet the Lions at 12.30am next Monday.
