Jasper Williams High School wins first gold medal at Lautoka/Yasawa Zone

Melania Turaga of Jasper Williams High School has claimed the first gold for the day at the Lautoka/Yasawa Zone

Jasper Williams High School’s Melania Turaga claimed the first gold of the day in the Open Girls 1500 metres event of the Lautoka/Yasawa Athletics Zone which is currently underway at Churchill park.

Makereta Atelaite of Natabua High School finished strong to win silver while Jasper’s Pauline Manoa won the bronze medal.

Lautoka Muslim College claimed their first gold medal through a strong finish by Gulsher Ali in the Sub‑Junior Boys 1500 metres event.

Joape Bakabaka claimed silver for Natabua High School while Saint Thomas High School’s Adit Singh settled for the bronze.

In the Junior Boys 1500 metres event it was a tight race between Natabua High School and Lautoka Muslim College.

Natabua’s Charlie Chambers edged his opponent from Lautoka Muslim College close to the finish line to win gold while Bone-fasio Raikaloa settled for silver and Natabua’s Iosefo Waqawai won the bronze.

In the Intermediate Boys 1500 metres event, Lepani Dave of Drasa Secondary School won gold, Sudaysi Ali of Lautoka Muslim College won silver while Natabua’s Semesa Nawasoni settled for the bronze.
