A new winner will be crowned in the Vodafone Fiji Fact this afternoon after the Nadi soccer team defeated defending champions Suva 1 0 in the second semifinal at Prince Charles Park last night.
The hosts played their hearts out in front of their home fans as goal scoring sensation Rusiate Matararega scored through a “bend it like Beckham” free kick which curled to an acute angle and went right to the back of the net giving Suva goalkeeper Vereti Dixon no chance at all.
Matararega also scored a crucial goal last night against Lautoka in the pool match decider.
Suva tried hard but Nadi continued the momentum determined to feature in the final today against Ba.
The Men in Black gave Rewa no chance at all as they maintained their winning form with a 2-0 win in the first semifinal.
It was Sanni Issa again to the rescue as he opened the account in the 24th minute to give Ba the needed lead.
Ba led 1-0 at the breather.
Avinesh Waran Swamy increased the lead after a mistake by Rewa goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva when he tried to stop Warans shot in a volleyball style which went into the net to make it 2-0.
The games has started with the Premier Division match between Nasinu and Tailevu Naitasiri which is locked at nil-all.
The match after this will see Rakiraki take on Lami at 11am.
The third and fourth place Super Premier match will kick off at 1pm where Suva will take on Rewa followed by the main final at 3pm between Ba and Nadi and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Radio Sargam.
