Australia is once again the champion of Netball in the world after defeating the New Zealand Silver Ferns 58-55 in a close encounter in front of 16,849 spectators during the final last night in Allphones Arena in Sydney.
Australian skipper, Laura Geitz’s outstanding intercepts and deflections caught the Silver Ferns off guard in the first quarter, as Kimberly Green carried it through the midcourt to Caitlin Bassett and Natalie Medhurst to convert.
Australian goal attack Natalie Medhurst says that were aiming to start well in the first quarter which they did and put pressure to the Silver Ferns in the rest of the quarters.
The Silver Ferns downed Australia 52-47 in the Preliminary Rounds of the tournament to reach the finals undefeated.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Pearls have finished in the 11th spot in the 2015 Netball World Cup in Sydney after beating Scotland 51-41.
England finished in 3rd place after beating Jamaica 66-44 to win the bronze medal.
