The All Whites after producing New Zealand's best ever football result, holding reigning World Cup champions Italy to a 1 1 draw this morning are confident of qualifying from Pool F into the second round of competition in South Africa.
The All Whites will now need to beat Paraguay in their last pool match to qualify from their pool after they drew 1 all with Slovakia in their first match.
Speaking to radio New Zealand, coach Ricki Herbert said the players have what it takes to make it into the second round.
Herbert adds the All Whites are doing okay to came out on top despite the figures showing that Italy dominated the match.
New Zealand are ranked 78th in the world and many regarded the fixture as a mismatch when the draw was made.
The team's next game is against Paraguay on Friday morning at 2am, while Italy meet Slovakia in their final group game.
Meanwhile, Brazil's Kaka was controversially sent off as Brazil eased to a 3-1 victory in their battle with Ivory Coast this morning.
Kaka was cited by the referee for elbowing an Ivory Coast player.
Brazil has now qualified for the playoffs with Netherlands and Argentina.
In another game played last night, Paraguay defeated Slovakia 2-0 and also have a chance to qualify for the play offs.
Looking at the games coming up, Portugal take on North Korea at 11.30 tonight, Chile play Switzerland at 2am tomorrow and Spain take on Honduras at 6.30am tomorrow.
