8 overseas applicants have been shortlisted for the position of the Vodafone Fiji soccer coach.

This was revealed by Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel during a press conference at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi today.

Patel says he will hold discussions with the technical director and the acting national team director to finalise who will progress further for the interview process.

Patel also highlighted the National Sports Commission usually pays for the National coach and they are now asking the Commission to get a full-time national Futsal coach.

He adds the first assignment for the Vodafone National Men’s Team next year will be the Tri-Nations Series between Fiji, Tahiti and Solomon Islands hosted in Fiji during the FIFA International Window in March, 2020.

Patel further says they are also looking to fully develop women’s football as the U-16 and U-19 games were played this year and the Women’s IDC will be played next year.

He adds this is also their priority and they want to make sure that there are no differences from the men’s football.
Meanwhile, Aiyaz Musa has been appointed the new Vice President (west) who replaces Adbul Kadar. He will also be the National team director.
