Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for Fiji
A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the whole of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says a slow-moving trough of low pressure lies over the country.

It is associated with cloud and rain, which is expected to affect the country over the next few days.

The forecast for the whole of the Fiji group includes occasional rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms.

Possible impacts include flash flooding in flood-prone and low-lying informal settlements and communities, businesses, and Irish crossings, leading to traffic disruptions.

Surface flooding is also expected on streets in urban areas with poor drainage, while wet roads and reduced visibility especially during heavy downpours which may increase the risk of road accidents.

The Weather Office says significant amount of rain was also recorded in the past 24 hours in some parts of the country.
