The Fiji Airways Flying Fijians first game at the Rugby World Cup against the Wallabies will take place at the Sapporo Dome, which is one of the world’s great sporting stadiums.

According to the Rugby World Cup website, from the outside the stadium resembles an extra‑terrestrial spacecraft, while inside, it’s a fully enclosed, 41,410 seat technological masterpiece.

The stadium is designed to host baseball matches in a diamond format, it transforms and reshapes to house a rectangular field for rugby or football. Incredibly, the rectangular pitch is a natural grass turf, grown outdoors.

When the stadium transforms, the pitch automatically floats into the stadium and is positioned around the newly reconfigured seating set up.

Fiji play the Wallabies at 4.45pm Saturday.

The Sapporo Dome will also host the England and Tonga match at 10.15pm Sunday.

There are seven matches in the Rugby World Cup this weekend with the opening match this Friday between Japan and Russia at 10.45pm.

Fiji play the Wallabies at 4.45pm this Saturday.

France and Argentina face off at 7.15pm Saturday while the All Blacks and Springboks clash at 9.45pm Saturday.

On Sunday, Italy and Namibia play at 5.15pm, Ireland and Scotland face off at 7.45pm Sunday while England clash with Tonga at 10.15pm Sunday.
