A joint task force raid on Nadi Back Road has resulted in the arrest of one man and the seizure of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, while three more men remain in Police custody following two separate drug raids in Nadi and Natabua.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Kasiano Vusonilawe says the raid on Nadi Back Road was carried out on Wednesday by the Joint Task Force comprising the Fiji Police Force, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit.
Vusonilawe says white substances seized during the operation tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamine, while dried leaves were confirmed to be marijuana.
He says the suspect has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and will appear in the Nadi Magistrates' Court today.
The Assistant Commissioner says two more Joint Task Force raids were carried out yesterday at a car wash in Nadi and a home in Natabua.
He says the operations resulted in the seizure of white substances believed to be illicit drugs, and three men were arrested.
Vusonilawe says the three men remain in Police custody while the seized substances have been sent for analysis.
Meanwhile, the suspect arrested during another Joint Task Force raid in Lautoka on Tuesday, following the seizure of methamphetamine, has been charged and appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates' Court yesterday.
