The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions says there is currently insufficient evidence to charge any of the 11 police officers investigated over allegations arising from a series of Facebook posts containing screenshots of Viber messages.
The ODPP says it has completed its legal assessment of 11 police investigation files referred by the Fiji Police Force.
The complaint stemmed from Facebook posts that allegedly implicated 11 police officers in receiving corrupt benefits or bribes and engaging in discussions relating to illicit drug activities.
Following a review of all the available evidence, Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Nancy Tikoisuva has determined there is currently insufficient evidence to institute charges against any of the officers.
The ODPP has now returned the investigation files to the Fiji Police Force with recommendations for further investigations and additional matters for Police to consider.
The Office says it will review the files again if further investigations produce new or sufficient evidence establishing or supporting the commission of any criminal offence.
