There is no rift between the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces in the joint operations aimed at dismantling drug networks.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu made the statement today at the Police Headquarters.
Tudravu revealed that he met earlier today with the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, who reaffirmed the military’s support for police efforts during the joint operations.
He says social media continues to spread misinformation and disinformation regarding the relationship between the two forces, leading to public speculation about how they carry out their duties.
Tudravu also addressed the death of Jone Vakarisi while in military custody, saying the matter is under investigation and urging the public to allow due process to take its course.

The Commissioner stresses that authorities will not tolerate character assassination of their staff members and called on individuals with concerns to present credible evidence.
He adds that those spreading false information appear to have malicious intentions, and authorities will not allow misinformation to be used to advance personal or political agendas.
The Commissioner also reminded the public that investigations into the death of Police Officer Peniasi Racagi are ongoing, and there is no cover-up by the force.
