17 farmers receive their farmers awards

17 farmers received their farmers awards today from the Assistant Minister of Agriculture , Jale Sigarara, for their hard work in the Agriculture Industry.

Sigarara says this type of events creates a platform where farmers are able to engage with suppliers and make plans to sell their produce and at the same time showing their latest produce or services to other farmers and the general public.

He says most of these farmers receiving their awards today began from a small and subsistence business but due to their commitment they have achieved greater things.

Receiving the award for the Cocoa Farmer of the Year, is 59-year-old Iowane Kaloulia.

Vanilla Farmer of the Year was awarded to 29-year-old Joeli Suraki.

Receiving the Duck Farmer Award of the year is Rahul Nimarak Harak of Lomaivuna.

Broiler Farmer of the Year was awarded Natani Kuila.

Rajesh Prasad of Muaniweni from Naitasiri received the Kumala Farmer of the year.

Receiving the award for the Yam Farmer of the Year Award was 61-year-old Jone Madrai.

Former Flying Fijians hooker, Vereniki Sauturaga was awarded the Banana Farmer of the Year Award.

Pineapple Farmer of the Year Award was awarded to 24-year-old Shifran Ali.

Other awards are as follow:

- VCO Producer of the Year: Tenikako Beniki.

- Duruka Farmer of the Year: Moreen Shaienaz Yunus.

- Coconut Farmer of the Year: Birja Nand.

- Sustainable Land Management Farmer: Parma Nand.

- Tree Crop Farmer of the Year: Fazal Mahmood Ali.

- Floriculture Farmer of the Year- Moreen Yunus
