110 new wheelchairsdonated to Ministry of Health from Wheelchair Foundation USA

110 new wheelchairs have been donated to the Ministry of Health and Medicals Services from Wheelchair Foundation USA.

Former Ba resident, Chetan Singh Heyer who spearheaded the project this will give people who need it the mobility to move around and become productive.

He hopes the wheelchairs will be used wisely.

Heyer also thanked the Minister for Health Doctor Infereimi Waqainabete for accepting the wheelchairs, Dr. Neil Sharma for arranging and pioneering this wheelchair project, Jeremaia Mataika of Fiji Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Service Centre, Dr. Santokh Singh, Rotary and Lions Clubs, Lords Jeweler’s, Vodafone and many supporters in USA and Fiji.

Waqainabete welcomed and praised the hard work of Wheelchair Foundation USA after working closely with the Ministry in identifying the need for wheelchairs in the country.

To date, a total of 550 wheelchairs has been handed over by Wheelchair Foundation USA to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services since 2012.

This has been distributed to the Health facilities around the country for patient who are in need of such assistance.
