The University of the South Pacific has announced the closure of its Lautoka Campus and Nadi Centre tomorrow as Tropical Cyclone Vaianu continues to affect the country.

The University says the decision follows a Cyclone Alert issued by the Fiji Meteorological Service.

The USP Interim Management Group has directed that both campuses will be closed tomorrow and will remain closed until further notice.

The University says all essential services teams are to complete final cyclone preparedness activities and leave the campus safely.

Staff and students have also been advised to follow guidance from national authorities, including staying at home or relocating to evacuation centres if required.

Course coordinators and supervisors will contact students regarding academic arrangements and available support during the closure.

USP is also urging staff and students to stay updated through official advisories issued by the Fiji Meteorological Service and the National Disaster Management Office, and to take all necessary precautions during this period.
