Members of the Union Club visited the family of the late President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, to offer their condolences and support.
Former teacher and Trustee, Ameniasi Katonivualiku, says their friendship began during their school days and remained strong until Ratu Epeli's passing.
Katonivualiku reflected on a friendship that spanned decades, saying his connection with Ratu Epeli started during their school years and continued throughout their lives.
He says he was Head Boy of RKS in 1960, while Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was Deputy Head Boy at QVS at the time, before becoming QVS Head Boy in 1961.

Katonivualiku says that despite the many roles and responsibilities Ratu Epeli later carried in life, their friendship remained unchanged.
He says the purpose of the Union Club's visit is not only to respectfully pay tribute and support the family during this difficult time, but also to remember and celebrate the life of a man who shared many good memories with the club's members.
Katonivualiku says they wanted to reflect on the moments spent together and honour the strong relationship Ratu Epeli had with the Union Club.

Adi Koila Nailatikau shared during the visit that her late husband spent much of his free time supporting the club and its members, adding that he always valued the relationships and connections built there.
Katonivualiku says when he joined the Union Club in 2003, it was led by highly respected chiefs of Fiji and maintained a culture of respect and discipline that continues today.
He says many people remember Ratu Epeli for his warm personality and sense of humour, saying he had a way of making people feel comfortable around him.
Katonivualiku adds that despite his chiefly background and professional achievements, Ratu Epeli remained humble and approachable, qualities that many people will continue to remember and cherish.
