Tudravu calls for enhanced Police training to address professional conduct

Concerns have been raised about the professional conduct of police officers and the need for better training to help them manage situations in the field, reduce incidents of assault, and curb corruption.

Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the next batch of recruits will undergo six months of training, comprising 40 percent theoretical learning and 60 percent practical training focused on the realities of police work.

Tudravu says that providing officers with the right knowledge and skills at the academy level will help shape their conduct throughout their careers.

He also welcomed recent leadership changes within the police academy, saying they will strengthen training outcomes.

He reminded officers to continue applying the lessons and values taught during their academy training at the police pass-out parade.

He also stressed the need to introduce additional curriculum components to meet the evolving demands of policing and ensure officers are equipped with the skills required to address emerging challenges.
