Major bus companies servicing various routes have suspended some services, while others have ceased operations for today following a call from the Fiji Bus Operators Association for operators to halt bus services due to the current weather situation.
Shore Buses is providing limited services to people living in Lami, Naboro, Navua and Galoa while Classic Buses in the west has suspended all services for today.
Fiji Bus Operators Association President Nisar Ali says they can only plead with other bus operators, but it is ultimately up to owners and operators to do the right thing as lives will be at stake.
He says with schools closed and civil servants working from home, it is ideal for bus services to cease operations today.
