The bypass along the Queen's Highway at Semo Village will be open to the travelling public from midnight tonight.
The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) says that final works on the temporary bypass road at Semo Village along Queens Highway are being completed today.
FRA extends its sincere appreciation to the nearby communities, particularly Semo and Nalele villages, for their cooperation and support during construction.
They say special thanks are also given to Semo landowners for granting immediate access to enable works to commence, and to Nalele villagers for assisting with traffic management.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution and strictly follow all posted safety signs when travelling through the area.
FRA acknowledges that the failure at the Semo crossing highlights broader challenges associated with Fiji’s ageing road infrastructure.
They say similar structures along the Nadi–Sigatoka corridor have already been replaced, and FRA continues to prioritise the upgrading and replacement of critical infrastructure in line with its strategic plan.
