The Sanatan IDC Soccer Tournament has been postponed until further notice due to severe weather conditions affecting the country.
Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji National Secretary, Pt Krishneel Krishan Tiwari says the decision follows an advisory from the Fiji National Disaster Management Office regarding Tropical Cyclone Vaianu, which has intensified into a Category 2 system and is expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and unsafe conditions nationwide.
He says the NDMO has strongly advised event organisers to prioritise public safety and suspend all outdoor sporting activities until conditions improve.
He adds that the National Executive Council has taken this step in the best interest of all stakeholders, players and supporters, noting that while the importance of the Sanatan IDC is recognised, safety remains the top priority.
Tiwari says the Council will continue to monitor the situation and will announce alternative dates for the completion of the Sanatan IDC once weather conditions stabilise.
He is also urging stakeholders to show cooperation and understanding during this period.
