Brigadier General Manoa Gadai has sent a strong warning to all persons involved in the illicit drug trade that the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Police Force Joint Counter Narcotics Task Force will relentlessly pursue those who profit from the suffering of our people, and there will be no safe haven for criminals involved in this illegal trade.

While speaking at the launch of the Joint Counter Narcotics Task Force Operation (JCNTF) in the Western Division, Brigadier General Gadai said the RFMF and Police wish to send a very strong and clear message to all drug lords, criminal syndicates, traffickers, suppliers, distributors, and those involved in the use and facilitation of illicit drugs that their activities are destroying families, communities, and the future of our nation, and they will not be tolerated.

He says that the full weight of the law, supported by the combined strength and capabilities of the RFMF and Police, will be brought against all individuals and networks engaged in these illegal activities.

Brigadier General Gadai says this operation marks the beginning of a sustained, coordinated, and aggressive campaign to safeguard Fiji’s national security, protect future generations, and restore safety and stability within our communities.

While hosting the Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, together with his team of police officers, for a high-level joint operational meeting focused on strengthening coordination, planning, and execution of this critical mission, Brigadier General Gadai reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the RFMF to fully support the Police-led RFMF/FPF Joint Counter Narcotics Task Force Operation in the Western Division.

He emphasised the importance of unity of purpose, unity in command, and unity in effort, stressing that close cooperation between the RFMF and FPF will be essential in successfully confronting Fiji’s existential threat posed by the use and abuse of illicit drugs.

Brigadier General Gadai further reassured the RFMF/FPF Joint Task Force that all necessary resources, manpower, operational support, and logistical capabilities have been committed to ensure the mission is carried out effectively, professionally, and decisively.

Speaking on behalf of the Fiji Police Force, SSP Vaisewa thanked Brigadier General Gadai and the RFMF officers for their invitation, leadership, and unwavering support to the FPF over the years.

SSP Vaisewa reiterated the Commissioner of Police’s overall intent for both organisations to work together toward one common goal and purpose, protecting Fiji and its people from the devastating impact of illicit drugs and transnational criminal activities.

He expressed confidence that the joint operations between the RFMF and FPF will set a very high standard of cooperation, mutual respect, professionalism, discipline, and operational excellence.

Following the briefing, the Joint Task Force Command, together with Delta and Echo Companies personnel, conducted a combined operational demonstration for members of the RFMF/FPF Joint Counter Narcotics Task Force, showcasing tactical readiness, interoperability, and the combined operational capabilities of both forces.
