People may not hear about operations, but we are doing it.
That is the message from Assistant Commissioner of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe on the Fiji Police Force's ongoing drug operations.
Vusonilawe says the the Force has not stopped carrying out drug operations but has changed its operational strategies as criminals and drug dealers continue to adapt.
Responding to questions from the media on the apparent decline in publicly announced drug raids, Vusonilawe says criminals, drug dealers and others who go against the law have their own strategies and plans to outmanoeuvre police operations.
He says that is why police also have their own strategies and cannot continue with one trend of operations.

When questioned by fijiivllage News on joint operations with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Vusonilawe says there are certain cases where police and the military come together to work as a joint team.
He says they demarcate cases because there are cases of national interest and there are routine cases.
He adds that the joint team is not deployed every day.
The Assistant Commissioner also stressed that the Fiji Police Force cannot tackle the drug problem alone.
He says police need the assistance of the public by providing information and supporting law enforcement efforts.
He adds that people also need to become more security-conscious and not assume Fiji is the same as it was in previous years.
