Heavy rain across parts of Fiji has left residents stranded and homes inundated, with one man in Nadi forced to spend the night away from his family after floodwaters cut off access to his house.
Arvin Sharma, who works at Denarau and lives in the Kerebula Settlement, told fijivillage News this morning that he was unable to reach his home yesterday evening due to extensive road blockages and rising water levels.
He explained that there were blockages in Nadi Town and near the Nawaka traffic lights, making access to Kerebula impossible.
As a result, he says he was forced to stay overnight at his brother-in-law’s place in Saunaka.
Sharma says several houses in Kerebula Settlement had been affected by the rising floodwaters, particularly in the lower-lying parts of the Nawaka area.
Although water levels had dropped slightly by this morning, Sharma warned that conditions remain unstable.

He adds that when he visited Nadi Town this morning, business owners were already lifting goods and equipment to higher levels as a precaution.
Parts of Fiji continue to experience heavy rainfall, with some low-lying communities particularly vulnerable to flash flooding.
Residents in affected areas are being urged to remain vigilant as unsettled weather conditions persist.
