The widow of late Portugal forward Diogo Jota has told Scotland captain Andrew Robertson that her husband will be with him in spirit when he plays at the FIFA World Cup.
In a letter published by FIFA, Rute Cardoso says Jota often spoke about the friendship they shared at Liverpool and their dream of playing at football's biggest tournament.
Jota died in a car crash last July at the age of 28, shortly after helping Portugal qualify for the World Cup.
Cardoso told Robertson that when he steps onto the field for Scotland, he will be carrying Jota's dream with him.
Robertson had previously said Jota was in his thoughts when Scotland secured qualification, revealing the pair often spoke about reaching the World Cup after missing out before.
After reading the letter, Robertson said he will carry Jota in his heart throughout the tournament.
Scotland will play in their first World Cup since 1998 and open their campaign against Haiti at 1am on Sunday.
They will then take on Morocco at 10am next Saturday, 20th June, and Brazil at 10am the following Thursday in their Group C matches at the FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, the FIFA World Cup kicks off this Friday.
