A Fiji-based businessman allegedly involved in a murder attempt in Vadodara City in India will have to face extradition according to the City Police.
When fijivillage News contacted the businessman, he said he will not comment at this stage.
When we asked Fiji's Acting Attorney General, Siromi Turaga, he said that no extradition request has been received.
According to the Times of India, Vadodara City Police will soon begin the process to apply for the extradition of the Fiji businessman who is accused of ordering the murder of 37-year-old Ashish Bakoliya, a city-based businessman.
Vadodara DSP (rural) Sushil Agrawal said they will make efforts to extradite the Fiji businessman as he is a key accused in the case.
He said the process is long drawn and hence it may take time to bring him to India.
The City Police say that the man had allegedly paid money to one of his employees, Vikram Pratap Singh for the contract killing of Bakoliya.
Investigations point at a financial dispute between the man and Bakoliya who left Fiji and returned to India two-and-a-half years ago.
Bakoliya used to work as a financial manager with the businessman in Fiji.
Vikram flew down to India in April this year and hired Gurjeet alias Gurmeet Singh Bhatti from his hometown in Chhattisgarh.
Both Vikram and Gurjeet visited Vadodara several times to track Bakoliya's movements.
Agrawal said the two tried to kill Bakoliya seven to eight times but failed each time as he was accompanied by someone.
On the night of June 26th, the duo got an opportunity to kill Bakoliya, a garment trader, as he was travelling alone.
While Vikram rode the motorbike, Gurjeet fired shots at him on Waghodia Road.
An Indian Police official said a bullet pierced Bakoliya's shoulder and got lodged near his lungs.
He was rushed to the hospital and it took doctors three days to remove the bullet.
