Hibiscus Festival 2026 is going back to its original home at Albert Park, marking a historic milestone as Fiji’s most iconic community event celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.

Taking place from Saturday, 29th August to Saturday, 5th September 2026, the festival will once again bring life, colour and excitement to Suva.

A newly appointed leadership team will guide the festival into this landmark year.

The committee is chaired by Dr John Fatiaki, with Ellen Whippy-Knight serving as Festival Director.

The event will be delivered in partnership with Fiji Fashion Week, bringing a renewed level of creativity, professionalism and spectacle.

First established in 1956, the Hibiscus Festival has grown to become Fiji’s largest and longest-running event, known for celebrating local culture, unity, creativity and the enduring spirit of the Fijian people.

The 2026 edition promises to honour this legacy while introducing a refreshed and dynamic experience for a new generation.

This year’s festival also welcomes back FMF Foods Limited as the major sponsor for a second consecutive year.

The festival will have a spectacular Float Parade showcasing creativity and community pride, the Miss Hibiscus Pageant, including the Miss Charity competition, a Crowning Night Ball at the Grand Pacific Hotel, a vibrant entertainment hub featuring live performance, a marketplace with 180 stalls, including cultural food villages and artisan crafts, sporting competitions such as table tennis, pickleball and volleyball, city-wide initiatives including “Light Up the City” and Best Dressed Shopfronts and exclusive experiences such as the Hibiscus VIP Lounge.

Festival Director Ellen Whippy-Knight says the intention is to bring back the glamour and excitement the festival has always been known for, while creating an event every Fijian can be proud of.
