A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji, while a strong wind warning remains in force for all land areas.
The Fiji Meteorological Service says a coastal inundation alert remains in force for the southern low-lying coastal areas of the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Viti Levu from Natadola along the Coral Coast to Navua, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Moala, and the Southern Lau Group.
The weather office says an active trough of low pressure just west of Fiji is gradually moving eastwards towards the country.
Associated cloud and rain are already affecting Fiji and are expected to continue affecting the group until later today.
The Nadi Weather Office says occasional to periods of rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms, are expected over most parts of the country.
Heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Conditions are expected to gradually ease from the west by midday today.
Possible impacts include flash flooding in flood-prone and low-lying informal settlements, communities, and businesses, as well as at Irish crossings, leading to traffic disruptions.
Surface flooding is also possible on streets in urban areas with poor drainage.
Drivers are advised to exercise extra caution, as wet roads and reduced visibility are expected, especially during heavy downpours.
Meanwhile, the Nadi Weather Office says strong east to northeasterly winds of 40 to 55 kilometres per hour, with gusts up to 65 kilometres per hour, are expected across the country.
The winds are forecast to gradually turn northerly later today.
